We are Buyegu Dance Theatre from Kisesa in Northern Tanzania on the shores of Lake Victoria. We bring traditional Sukuma culture to the people. Our dances are a mixture of our own Sukuma and other Arfican traditional dances.

Dances are traditionally performed during certain parts of the farming year, to give us energy whilst we are working on our shambas (farms). We take turns at drumming and singing to give an energetic rhythm to work to. After harvest when there is little work to do we stage competitions with other groups. The dances are based on the actions performed during work on the farm.

Formed in 2006.
